With the rapid increase in online fraud, digital scams, and cybercrime in India, public awareness has become the strongest line of defense. Recognizing this urgent need, Our Helping Hand, in collaboration with Scam Shield India, organized a Scam Awareness & Fraud Prevention Workshop on 6 October 2025.
The workshop was conducted by Tushar Srivastava, Founder of Vyrosec and the Initiator of Scam Shield India, who has been actively working to expose scam patterns and educate communities across India on digital safety and fraud prevention.
Purpose of the Workshop
The primary objective of the workshop was to:
Create awareness about common and emerging scams
Educate people on how frauds operate psychologically and technically
Help individuals recognize early red flags of scams
Promote safe digital behavior in everyday life
Encourage reporting of fraud and cybercrime
This initiative focused on scams affecting students, working professionals, senior citizens, and small business owners, as these groups are frequently targeted by fraudsters.
Key Topics Covered
During the workshop, participants gained insights into:
Online payment frauds and UPI scams
Fake calls, phishing links, and SMS scams
Social media impersonation and identity theft
Job scams, loan scams, and investment frauds
Cyber hygiene, password safety, and data protection
Practical steps to avoid becoming a victim of fraud
Real-life examples were shared to help attendees understand how scams actually happen in society, making the session highly practical and relatable.
Impact & Community Value
The workshop emphasized that scam awareness is not just technical knowledge, but social responsibility. By educating individuals, the initiative aims to create a ripple effect where informed citizens help protect families, friends, and communities from fraud.
Scam Shield India continues to work toward becoming India’s first community-led scam and fraud awareness platform, while Our Helping Hand strengthens its mission of social welfare through education and public awareness initiatives.
Why Scam Awareness Matters Today
India’s rapid digital growth has also increased the risk of:
Financial loss due to fraud
Identity misuse
Emotional stress for victims
Loss of trust in digital systems
Workshops like this play a critical role in bridging the gap between technology and public understanding, ensuring that digital progress does not come at the cost of safety.
